In a mammoth community event that snowballed to unprecedented proportions, we managed to raise nearly £6,000 for Alzheimer’s in just a week!
National Elf Day was our first fundraising event as official partners of Alzheimer’s Society. As an independent business with strong ties to the local community, we wanted to take concrete action towards maximising our corporate social responsibility. When it came to choosing a partner, it was a simple choice for us. A cause that’s very close to our hearts, our co-founder Margaret Locke was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at just 51.
Now that we have grown to become one of the leading family-owned recruitment agencies in Essex, we want to fight back. Local business owners, employees, friends and family all pitched in.
“It was just fabulous to see so much support pouring in from our friends, family, clients and candidates.” Robyn says. “Alzheimer’s is often overlooked amongst other serious diseases, and sufferers urgently need more support.”
Friends in high places….
To celebrate our massive achievement, we even had a visit from the East of England’s Member of European Parliament! Alex Mayer came down to our Head Office at midday on her tour of Essex to congratulate us on achievement in raising so much money as a community.
Of course, one of the ways in which we were able to raise so much was due to the help of our former employee Olly Murs. Olly worked for Prime for 5 years as a recruiter, before he went on to audition for the X Factor. On Thursday night, Olly helped us with a final push over the finish line and donated £1500 to get us over £5,000.
Local business donors gave generously to our elf raffle, with prizes pouring in from household names and independent businesses alike, including Shadbolt Doors, Milson Hotels, Morrison’s, Stourgarden, Wilkin & Sons, Hayman’s Gin, Nicholas Percival and more.
The next step
In view of their massive success with Elf Day, Prime Appointments have decided to raise the roof on their fundraising target for Alzheimer’s Society. By next World Alzheimer’s Awareness Day, we aim to have raised £10,000! We’re confident that with the help and support of our team, clients, candidates and local community, we can make a real difference.
