We are hugely proud to announce that we raised a WHOPPING £78,155 from our recent Alzheimer’s Golf Day. This along with our recent bake sale and the money raised from the Colchester half marathon takes us to an incredible £169,757! With more donations still due to hit our Just Giving page, we continue to rise to our £250,000 target.
The original goal in 2019 was to raise £100,000 in 10 years but roll on to July 2023, and we have already SMASHED the original target. Now we are pushing for our newly set and announced target of £250,000.
The Prime Appointments Golf Day
On June 9th at Colchester Golf Club our 21 teams took to the course with the sun shining brightly. This fantastic day was supported by business leaders, clients, family and friends from across Essex and Suffolk. This was our third golf day at Colchester and the day was organised again by Prime Director, Peter Holmes.
Peter said: “As Robyn and I are keen golfers ourselves, we always wanted to do something that would allow us to invite family, friends and clients together to help us raise awareness and money for our chosen charity; The Alzheimer’s Society’’. We have organised the Prime Appointments Golf Day on 3 occasions now and each time it has gone from strength to strength! Luckily each year the sun has shone for us, and this has helped in our objective to give people a great day which they will remember, whilst raising money and awareness about this terrible disease. Together we have raised an enormous amount of money for Alzheimer’s Society, and we will continue to do so over the next 5 years. Without the generous donations of auction items and the enormous generosity of the people who buy them it would be impossible to raise so much money.”
One of the highlights of the day was the incredibly emotive speech by the (CEO) Kate Lee of Alzheimer’s society. This helped all of us in the room realise how underfunded dementia is and how much our help is needed to change this. Her speech was hugely impactful to everyone and resonated on a very personal level with us all. It helped everyone in the room understand how significant the work we are doing together is to support the charity with research and development, and ultimately finding a cure.
As well as the golf the other highlight of the day was our Auction. The items auctioned included golf days at Wentworth, Muirfield, Sunningdale, The Belfry, Wisley, Bearwood Lakes and Les Bordes in France. Additional items included tickets for the Directors Box at Ipswich Town and 3 days of walking, food and accommodation donated by Milsoms. We were all absolutely blown away by the generosity of those who donated the prizes and also those who so generously bought the items to help us raise so much money.
MD Robyn Holmes said: 31 years ago, my best friend Margaret and I set up Prime Appointments and we had the best time together. Tragically at just 51 Margaret was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. You can hardly believe that she was once that beautiful and vivacious woman, as today she doesn't resemble her old self at all – Alzheimer’s has tragically ruined not only her life but also the lives of her family. As we continue to support Margaret and The Alzheimer’s Society I couldn’t be prouder of what we have achieved together with all our staff, family friends and business partners. I am also proud of the amazing support they continue to give to help raise awareness of this terrible disease.
Thanks also to all those who have become ‘’Team members’’ on our journey and those who have taken part in activities on behalf of us. We couldn’t do this without you all and we hope you will continue to support us as we march on to the end goal of £250,000”
Margaret’s eldest son Drew completed an Iron Man in Portugal in an amazing time of 7h 27 minutes. He raised a whopping £11,000 for us – for those of you who don’t know that is a 3.8km swim, 180km bike ride and a Full marathon.
We then had the support of Charlie Milsom and Freddie who cycled 580 miles from Geneva to London. They raised a gigantic £19,255 which is JUST fantastic.
Our third supporter this year is our auctioneer and friend Stuart Levett. Stuart has been with us since our journey began and is an inspiration in so many ways. Stuart, with the support of friends, colleagues and his company, CVC raised a massive £35,000 towards the £78,155 that we raised at this year’s golf day.
Together we are Help and Hope for everyone living with Alzheimer’s and other dementia related diseases.
Our next mission... in October 2023
We have a Memory Walk taking place later this year and our runners are taking part in the Colchester Half Marathon again next year plus a few are doing the London Marathon. There will be other events too! As a company, we are dedicated to doing everything we can to help to tackle this disease and support everyone affected by it.
PLEASE help us reach our goal and donate today.
