Late Shift Manager - Permanent Position - £45k+ (Based in Braintree, Essex)
A well-established and rapidly growing company in Braintree is seeking a motivated and experienced Late Shift Manager to join their team. This is a permanent, full-time position offering a competitive salary of £45k+ per annum, depending on experience.
Shift Details:
- Monday to Thursday: 16:00 - 23:30
- Friday: 14:00 - 22:00

Role Overview: As the Late Shift Manager, you will be responsible for supervising a small production team while ensuring compliance with health and safety, food hygiene, and quality standards. You will play a key role in maintaining the efficient and smooth running of operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all late shift production activities, ensuring products are manufactured to established safety, quality, and hygiene standards.
- Oversee the preparation, mixing, blending, and packaging of food products, maintaining high standards of good manufacturing practice.
- Supervise and execute cleaning schedules across production, packaging, and warehouse areas to ensure strict hygiene compliance.
- Carry out product inspection, metal detection, and sample testing, ensuring compliance with CCP requirements.
- Palletise, wrap, and label finished goods accurately.
- Manage production materials and finished products, including forklift operation and driving company vehicles between sites.
- Perform basic maintenance and calibration of machinery and equipment.
- Lead, coach, mentor, and support late shift staff to achieve performance targets.
- Manage health and safety protocols and ensure site security, including locking up and setting alarms.
- Ensure all food safety, quality, authenticity, and legal standards are met at all times.
- Maintain accurate production records and communicate with the General Manager and Food Safety Manager regarding site hygiene, audits, and accreditations.
- Perform other duties as required to support the company's commitment to FSSC 22000 and BRCGS standards.
Candidate Requirements:
- Counterbalance Forklift Licence and full UK driving licence required and own transport
- Previous experience in a production management role, ideally within the food manufacturing sector.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 25kg
- Strong understanding of food hygiene standards
- Experience in conducting audits and adhering to compliance standards
