We are looking for a maintenance engineer to cover the on-site maintenance for a materials manufacturer for the construction industry.

The manufacturing site is based on the outskirts of Stowmarket.

We are ideally after someone with experience of plant equipment & can work in a reactive capacity to breakdowns & repairs. Though this will be a mechanically biased role, the successful candidate will also need to have a basic understanding of electrical systems to carry out routine electrical engineering.

Hours of work are 06:00-15:00, Monday-Friday. However, the company are prepared to offer some flexibility on hours to best suit the demands of the individual.

We are open to seeing candidates from varying levels of experience. Negotiable salary paying between £40,000-£50,000.

Mechanical Engineer duties include: -

• Undertaking all maintenance-based duties and repairs to plant & equipment as well as on tools, vehicles, the workshop, and the building
• Strong background in mechanical engineering, welding experience ideal
• Rebuilding and/or overhaul on gantry/overhead cranes, fork trucks, rotator wheels plus much more
• Carrying out statutory inspection regularly and making sure they are planned and recorded
• Attend Health & Safety meetings and action requirements.
• Ensuring that you adhere to the correct health & safety standards
• Repair of equipment, basic welding involved whilst having to use electrical, pneumatic & hydraulic equipment

You will be required to get involved with the planned preventive maintenance (PPM), implementation of duties so the site can run efficiently as possible.

You need a strong mechanical background to be considered for this position as a lot of the work is reactive maintenance. This position does have the long-term prospects of stepping into a maintenance supervisory role!

The role involves working outside, whatever the weather.

This is a permanent position subject to a successful 3-month probation period.
