Manufacturing and Process Development Engineer

£35,000 - £45,000 p/a

My client based in Braintree is looking for a Manufacturing and Process Development Engineer to play a critical role in the development and deployment of advanced manufacturing technologies and processes, with a focus on heat shrink tubing and shielding solutions. You will be part of a dynamic technical team, owning the development and execution of scalable, cost-effective manufacturing systems from the ground up.

Duties:

  • Drive quality, environmental, health, and safety standards.
  • Define clear project objectives, scope, timelines, and budgets.
  • Analyse product requirements ensuring optimal manufacturing routes.
  • Develop CAD tooling designs, process capability studies, and cost/resource estimates.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure equipment capabilities align with product design.
  • Lead process development for manufacturing methods
  • Investigate and implement advanced manufacturing technologies to enhance product performance, reduce costs, and boost production efficiency.
  • Write standard work instructions and procedures
  • Work with Lead Engineers and Operations teams to deploy and validate new processes, equipment, and initial trials.

Skills & Experience:

  • Candidates must be hands-on, technically sharp, and thrive in collaborative environments
  • Degree qualified in Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or similar
  • Experience in manufacturing, automation, process development, and equipment design
  • Must be skilled in CAD design and familiar with ANSYS simulation tools.
  • Must have a solid understanding of extrusion processes, compound mixing, and related tooling.
  • Knowledge of control systems and automation technologies is a benefit.
  • Must have strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Able to clearly articulate technical concepts to multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience of continuous improvement is essential
