Manufacturing Engineer - St. Neots - Salary up to £48,000 depending on experience
Working for a world leader within the aircraft manufacturing industry the Manufacturing Engineer will perform manufacturing engineering tasks relating to the development and production of electronic and electro-mech assemblies. The ideal candidate will be qualified to BTEC Level 3 or above in manufacturing engineering or similar and will have experience working within electronic manufacture. Duties:
- Support Engineering in ensuring manufacturability of new designs and in developing electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies.
- Assist Technical Planning in creating and maintaining manufacturing documentation (SAP routings, work instructions, drawings, and specifications).
- Manage product costs during development and into production.
- Define optimal manufacturing methods and processes based on design requirements.
- Collaborate with the Test Department to implement suitable testing solutions.
- Oversee development and first-build of assemblies to ensure production readiness.
- Work with Sales, Engineering, and Quality to ensure customer requirements are fully captured.
- Implement and manage engineering changes in production environments.
- Act as technical liaison for build-to-print customer products.
- Support training programs and deliver relevant technical instruction when required.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives across processes and production.
- Assist with equipment selection, installation, and commissioning.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions through the MRB process.
Qualifications & Experience:
- A BTEC Level 3 or above in manufacturing engineering or similar is necessary
- Manufacturing engineering experience, in a low to medium volume electronics production environment - including surface mount, PTH, PCBA cleaning and conformal coating is required
- Practical experience of Lean Manufacturing Principals is necessary
- Solidworks experience preferable
- An understanding of SAP ERP and CAD processes is preferred
- Aerospace and/or Defence industry experience would be ideal
- Good communication and teamworking skills are required
