1 year maternity cover contract
End of contract bonus

A manufacturing client of ours in the Ipswich area are recruiting a Purchasing Assistant to join their team. This is a 1-year FTC role covering maternity, working Monday - Friday 7.30am - 4.00pm and paying a negotiable salary depending on experience. There will be an end-of-contract bonus of £500 and the ideal start date will be June.

Working in a team of 3, key duties include but are not limited to:

  • Process purchase orders and source raw materials at the best price
  • Keeping the systems and information up-to-date including the goods in calendar and stock sheets
  • Source alternative products
  • Stock counting and monthly stock takes
  • Record and analyse daily orders for requirements. Check that materials are in stock and if there are any materials/items that need to be bought in
  • Parcelling up of product samples etc.
  • Liaising with suppliers and internal teams
  • Checking invoices
  • Process claims for incorrectly invoiced products, faulty/missing goods etc
  • Calculate quotations and costings


Skills and Experience required to be considered for this Purchasing Assistant position:

  • Previous experience within a purchasing and procurement role.
  • Good computer skills
  • Experience in using an MRP/ERP system such as Sage 200 (desirable but not essential)
  • Proficient in Excel and good with numbers/large spreadsheets.
