When trying to figure out the best way to find jobs in Essex and Suffolk, most people make job-hunting far more difficult for themselves than it needs to be. 

During a job interview you will be asked a variety of questions depending on the industry and position you are applying for. There are many industry specific questions which would need a separate post, but there are 6 that come up in some form or another in any interview process as they are an excellent way for the client to get to know more about you as a potential candidate.

Here is some helpful advice from our recruitment consultants for new graduates looking for a job:Work out what your goals are: You spend a lot of time working so it is important to make sure you align where you work with what you want to accomplish. By identifying industries or roles that match your interests, personal outlook and repertoire of skills, you give yourself the highest chance of achieving those career goalsResearch & target companies that are the right match for you: Look for companies that match your values and personal outlook. These are likely to be the sort of companies you will thrive in and have the highest chance of reaching your career goals. To screen potential roles and companies, look at what their culture is, what their company mission is, and what opportunities they have available.Tailor your CV and cover letter for the role: Your CV is the first impression a company gets of you, so it is imperative that your CV highlights the qualifications you have attained, any internships or projects you might have been involved in while studying, and any relevant coursework or experience that demonstrates the desired skills and abilities needed for the role. You will also need to write a cover letter for each application to address the job requirements.Create a LinkedIn profile to get your name out there: LinkedIn profiles are an excellent way to build a professional online presence, as connecting with professionals and joining relevant groups exposes you as a potential candidate to more people. You also need to make sure your profile provides the same information as your CVMake sure you are networking: Networking is a crucial step when searching for job opportunities as it expands your search and potentially puts you in contact with people who can help and get your foot in the door. You can attend career fairs, industry events, and join professional bodies or institutes to increase your reach. You could also reach out to alumni of your university or those who work in your desired field for advice and information.Take part in internships and volunteering opportunities to get ahead: Consider internships or volunteering opportunities to gain practical experience as this is highly desirable for most companies. A placement like an internship or volunteering position can also build skills and make valuable connections which could help with future opportunities.Make sure you are prepared for interviews: Research commonly asked interview questions and practice your responses to avoid being caught off guard. You should also spend time researching the company so you have an in-depth understanding of what they do. This way you can then come up with examples from your experiences to demonstrate your skills and achievements. You can also relate them to a company situationDevelop your skills: Continuously investing in your personal and professional development can help you achieve your goals and progress in your career. Some roles might require skills you don't have, so you need to be willing to seek out learning opportunities such as online courses or workshops. This would give you the certifications needed to be considered for a roleStay positive and persistent: Job searching shouldn't be rushed as a half-hearted attempt will lead to poor results. It is important to not be disheartened when rejected and remain optimistic as a positive attitude is key to successful job searching. Make sure you learn from each experience and apply what you learn when applying for jobs in the future.Be open to trying something new: Having a clear idea of what you want from your career and setting goals to help you succeed will keep your search focused. But if you find that you are not succeeding, try looking at roles different from your preferred career path. A role away from your career path could be incredibly fulfilling and give you a whole new outlook on what you want from your career
