£11,835 Raised! Prime's 5th Golf Day Supports Alzheimer’s Society

We are thrilled to announce that we have moved significantly closer to our fundraising target of £300,000, reaching an incredible £280,637 following our latest Golf Day, with donations continuing to come in. This milestone brings us one step closer to our ambitions goal for our charity partner Alzheimer's Society.

The original goal in 2018 was to raise £100,000 over a 10-year period, and in 2025, we have nearly tripled that target, demonstrating the incredible generosity of our community and the growing importance of this cause.

The Prime Appointments Golf Day 2025

On Friday, June 6th, at Colchester Golf Club, 20 teams took part in the Prime Appointments fifth annual Golf Day. The weather was perfect for the players, and everyone enjoyed a fantastic day on the course. The event was supported by clients, family, and friends from across Essex and Suffolk, with this year marking a special milestone as our fifth charity golf day.

The day began in the Colchester Golf Club's clubhouse with light refreshments as everyone checked in, purchased raffle tickets, and drew hole numbers for their teams. Excitement built as teams discovered their starting positions, with some early competitive bidding for the privilege of starting at hole number one on the fantastic Colchester Golf Course.

Twenty teams quickly teed off at their respective starting holes, and the competition was underway. At Hole 11, teams enjoyed a well-deserved break with fantastic sausage rolls and scotch eggs from Lisa at Holts, along with delicious cakes from Tiptree Patisserie at the halfway house, giving everyone time to refuel before continuing their rounds.

This year featured an exciting addition with an extra putting competition, overseen by Matt Holland, Ex Ipswich & Ireland international football player, which kept the momentum going throughout the day and provided teams with another opportunity to win prizes. The competitive spirit remained high as players navigated the course.

Evening Celebrations and Important Messages

Once everyone had completed their rounds, it was time for a well-deserved dinner at the clubhouse and the eagerly anticipated raffle draw and auction. The evening provided excellent opportunities to raise vital funds for our cause through both the exciting auction items and raffle prizes.

Robyn Holmes, Managing Director at Prime Appointments, took the opportunity to thank all attendees and donors for their incredible support. She highlighted the critical importance of Alzheimer's research, emphasizing the remarkable work being conducted by The Alzheimer's Society and the significant developments being made in current research.

Robyn also drew attention to the concerning disparity between research funding for other life-threatening diseases like cancer compared to the resources currently allocated to Alzheimer's Disease research. Her personal connection to the cause remained at the heart of her message, as she shared updates about her dear friend and co-founder, Margaret, who recently celebrated her 70th birthday. Margaret was diagnosed with Alzheimer's at just 55 years old, serving as a powerful reminder of why finding solutions to this devastating disease is so crucial.

Robyn said: " Right now, dementia is the UK’s leading cause of death, and if nothing changes 1 in 3 people born today will develop it – The Alzheimer’s Society are tackling the challenge from every angle: delivering support, advocating for change, and funding life-changing research. It’s this combination of efforts that’s giving everyone real hope for the future—a future where dementia no longer devastates lives. "

Special Thanks to Our Generous Donors

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the generous individuals and businesses who donated prizes for our auction and raffle, making this incredible fundraising total possible:

Stourgarden, Paul & Geraldine Milsom - Milsom Hotels and Restaurants, Strident Technology, Morgans Falmouth Art Gallery, David Alston - Higham Vineyard, Sheringham Golf Club, Royal Cromer Golf Club, Hershesons, Miranda Hayman - Hayman Distillers, Billy Schwier, Annabel S. - BT Tower London, Wendy Smith, Mark Baker & Chris Cutchie - Colchester Golf Academy.

Without the incredible generosity of these donors and the enthusiastic bidding from our attendees, we would not have been able to raise such vital funds for The Alzheimer's Society.

Looking Ahead

As we approach our £300,000 target, we remain committed to supporting The Alzheimer's Society through various fundraising activities throughout the year. The success of our fifth annual Golf Day demonstrates the growing strength of our community's commitment to this vital cause.
